Purpose for the prosperous life
Challenge and achievement is what makes a life worthy to wake up to; a fulfilled life.

Recently, I have been contemplating a lot about purpose, specifically the purpose of man to live a prosperous life. This series of contemplations led me to a question that I was eager to answer: Why should man live a prosperous life (excluding any religious bias)?
This question can be very daunting, as it questions the purpose of our very existence, without the inclusion of any God or divine logos. Personally for me, as a person who derives his purpose from God, I can say that without any God or divine logos, man ultimately has no purpose to live a prosperous life, and in some sense, no purpose at all.
However, now after contemplation, I believe that even if God, or if any divine logos for that matter, were to be proven objectively false, I believe that I would still aim to live a prosperous life. This is due to an interpretation of life that I have discovered and adopted.
The following is concerning this interpretation of life:
Man's seeking for purpose
Man seeks purpose. We can see man’s desire for purpose in our seeking to serve something greater than ourselves, whether it be a God or even an idea: we can see throughout history how we have always idolized kings, submitted ourselves to a God; how ancient monarchs were interpreted to have “divine rule,” such as the monarchs of the Qin dynasty to the Roman Empire.
This desire of seeking purpose can also be seen today in modern nationalism, cults, and submission under ideas or religion.
The truth is that we humans desire some kind of significance and reason for our existence, and this is clear throughout our history.
Though the question arises, why do we desire and seek purpose for our lives, let alone our existence? And how does this affect the way we shape our lives?
The desire for this significant purpose can be pinned to several factors, but I believe a factor that most definitely contributes to this desire for purpose is our biological nature of fearing uncertainty.
As humans with limited comprehension and understanding, we have always fallen into uncertainty, and when we do, we find ourselves uncomfortable. This is most apparent when we begin thinking about our future, our destiny, and our fate.
As humans, we want to be certain about our future; we want security, which may just be a result of our need to survive, hence why we play things so safe and are scared to take those risks, for we simply do not know what may happen to us, whether we will prosper or decline, survive or die, and most certainly our fear of loss (especially of life), is something that holds us back greatly, and may very well be a portion of our fear of uncertainty.
Our fear of the uncertain (specifically the uncertainty that is out of our control, comprehension, or a threat to our survival), is a fear that drives us to desire certainty in our destiny and fate, that we may know and be secure in our future.
Whatever the root of our desire for purpose may be, we certainly desire a future that is certain and in our control, and I believe that it is out of this desire that many tend to fall into a stagnant life.
Why we tend to live the stagnant life
It is in the stagnant life where we are able to satisfy our desire for security in the form of control, where the only effort we put into our lives, is survival (which is a biological nature of ours). This is why many people who live in a stagnant life fear progression and only encounter challenge and prosperity when survival demands it.
It is also important to note that in the stagnant life, we distract ourselves from our desire for purpose and meaning by focusing not only on our need to survive, but as well focusing on pleasures.
When we are not focused on survival in the stagnant life, we distract ourselves with pleasures to compensate for our lack of purpose, essentially making pleasures our purpose in life, where pleasures become the thing we work for and live for.
This is why people living a stagnant life, despite their biological nature, have the endurance to hold onto a stagnant life and depart from their inner desire for purpose.
Furthermore, I believe this generation is highly subject to falling into a stagnant life due to a problem that I have been seeing rise recently with the current generation: this problem is the acceptance this generation has of not living a fulfilling life, which usually comes as a direct consequence of the general common belief that the world is simply not for them in the sense that nothing will work out for them; This general common belief can be rooted in the constant corruption and manipulation in the world, along with the rise of optimization and automatization threatening any opportunity of raw human success.
With this, many people in the current generation occupy themselves with working to survive.
Why we must live the prosperous life
I believe that we should disregard this idea of a stagnant life, and instead pursue a life dedicated toward constant challenge and accomplishment, prosperity and progression, etc.
The reason for this being, can be justified by a question: why live a stagnant life when one has the opportunity to live life to the fullest?
We have the privilege of being able to embrace the gifts of life, and certainly we should be grateful and not squander the opportunity to explore every aspect of life, at every level of life.
This means taking advantage of the opportunity to embrace life to the fullest, which is in my opinion, what makes a life truly fulfilled anyways (excluding my religious bias).
On the contrary, I believe that we should pursue a life of constant prosperity and accomplishment of challenge, not only to avoid missing out on the opportunities of life, but to actually build a purpose.
Generally, it is the challenges in a constantly improving life where I see the most value, for challenge is something that one can be dedicated to, which allows me to have a mission and a goal, which in return gives me a sense of worth and purpose, satisfying my natural desire for purpose.
On top of this, it is by the act of conquering challenges that we build a legacy which may just have a lasting impact on the world, where one is able to look back at their contribution in society, and see their influence in something that will outlast them, something that is greater than themselves.
Ultimately, without challenge, there is nothing to look forward to, no legacy to achieve, no life worth waking up every day to, and it is for this reason why I will say the following:
I know personally, for my life, I would rather occupy myself with constantly conquering challenges and prospering through every stage of life, as it is this way that I find meaning to live in the first place.
